Grande-Bretagne : Alstom allongera les rames Class 458 à cinq voitures

A partir de rames Class 458 (trains de banlieue de quatre caisses) et Class 460 (anciennes navettes aéroportuaires Gatwick Express de huit caisses) livrées au début de la décennie précédente par Alstom, ce dernier réalisera 36 rames Class 458/5 de cinq caisses. Ces rames permettront de former des compositions de 10 voitures au lieu de 8 actuellement pour les dessertes de banlieue de South West Trains (au départ de la gare londonienne de Waterloo). Cette modification concernera les cabines de conduite, les intercirculations et les espaces bagages à convertir en salons-voyageurs. Ce contrat « de 50 millions d’euros » a été signé entre la société de leasing Porterbrook et Alstom. Les nouvelles rames entreront en service au printemps 2013, la livraison du dernier train étant prévue pour le printemps 2014.
